Cara's Evolution
Praised by Opera News for her “power and dark hued radiance,” Cara Collins is quickly gaining attention as a rising soprano. With a lifelong passion for the arts, she feels grateful to have had the opportunity to pursue a career as an opera singer, having performed on stages across the country. Collins’ most notable performances include creating the lead role of Brittomara in the world premiere of If I Were You by the acclaimed team of Jake Heggie and Gene Scheer, as well as playing Mutter in Hänsel und Gretel at Palm Beach Opera, Tisbe in La Cenerentola and Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte at the Northern Lights Music Festival, and Flora in La Traviata at Opera Naples, among others. She has also appeared as a guest soloist with the Amarillo Symphony for Handel’s Messiah under the baton of Peter Bay. Collins’ training includes prestigious young artist residencies at Palm Beach Opera, The Merola Opera Program in San Francisco, Sarasota Opera, Opera on the James, and Opera North.
During the pandemic, Cara discovered a new outlet for her creativity: jewelry-making. She found that crafting permanent jewelry was the perfect way to continue connecting with people and expressing herself artistically, even when live performances were on hold.
Now, she is living life to the fullest balancing singing at Lyric Opera of Chicago and running Slightly Fab. Her greatest joy is connecting with others and making memories with her voice and jewelry.
